Common questions

My apps aren't locking at bedtime

Almost always a permission that got turned off. Open Early Beaver — if the setup checklist appears, something needs re-granting. You can also check Settings → Screen Time on your device and confirm Early Beaver still has access.

The alarm didn't ring

Check that alarm access is still granted in Settings → Early Beaver. Early Beaver's alarms are built to cut through silent mode and Focus — if one didn't fire, that permission is nearly always the reason.

I need my phone during the lock

Open Early Beaver, tap the gear icon, and use a 2 Minute Pass. You get three a night. Your apps unlock for two minutes and then lock again on their own.

Why can't I unlock for longer?

Because then it wouldn't work. The whole value of the app is that the decision isn't available to you at midnight. Short, countable passes are deliberate.

Which apps get blocked?

All apps that Apple allows to be blocked. Phone, Messages and emergency features are never blocked — iOS doesn't permit it, and shouldn't.

Managing or cancelling a subscription

Subscriptions are handled by Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Refunds go through reportaproblem.apple.com.

Deleting my account

In the app: Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, settings and usage records. It can't be undone. If you'd rather we did it, just email.

Does Early Beaver see which apps I use?

No. Apple's Screen Time framework is built so developers never learn which apps you have or open — that information doesn't reach us and we couldn't retrieve it if we tried. See the privacy policy.
